Afro Renaissance: From Where I Stand

Afro-Renaissance: From Where I Stand presents a constellation of singular artistic positions rooted in concrete standpoints — urban, social, affective, symbolic — from which Angolan artists observe and respond to their context. Neither fixed identity nor collective representation, each work emerges as a condition of enunciation: a viewpoint requiring no translation, no external validation. Memory operates as active material. Heritage, archive, and lived experience coexist with contemporary visual languages, revealing continuities and ruptures specific to the Angolan context. With annual editions between Luanda and Lisbon, the exhibition opens a critical space for reflection on visibility, recognition, and the circulation of contemporary African art — affirming itself as a continuous platform for creation, memory, and cultural renewal.
