Meshach Charity

Charity Eshiojieme Meshach (b. 1997, Lagos, Nigeria) is a contemporary Nigerian visual artist whose vibrant practice captures personal experience and daily reality through expressive oil paintings. Originally from Estako East in Edo State, Meshach was raised in Lagos, a city whose cultural dynamism continues to shape his creative vision.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Fine and Industrial Arts, with a specialization in painting, from the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This academic foundation enabled him to refine his technical skills and experiment with the structural and emotional possibilities of oil on canvas — his primary medium of expression.

Meshach’s works are marked by a deep appreciation for colour, form, and mood. He draws inspiration from his surroundings, translating life’s textures, relationships, and everyday impressions into layered compositions. His process is intuitive, often unfolding across days, allowing each painting to evolve with time — a metaphor for memory and growth.

Themes of identity, youth, social commentary, and urban life permeate his canvases, which blend realism and impressionistic energy. His creative intent is to share the emotional truth of his lived experiences while inviting viewers into their own reflection.

Meshach has exhibited in several group and virtual shows across Nigeria and internationally. Highlights include:

"Stages in Life" (Virtual, TAAG Gallery, 2022)

"Making A Difference" (Virtual, Constance and Sons Gallery, 2022)

"Fate IX: Conversation in Colours" (Alexis Galleries, Lagos, 2022)

"IDENTITY" (National Gallery of Arts, Uyo, 2021)

University of Uyo Group Exhibition (2021)

As a rising voice in Nigerian contemporary painting, Charity Meshach continues to refine his visual language — one rooted in sincerity, structure, and an unrelenting love for colour.
