Black Mirror IV (I) by Nadia Wamunyu expands the artist’s acclaimed Black Mirror series, positioning watercolour as a powerful voice within Black Art. With delicate washes and layered tones, Wamunyu transforms the mirror motif into a poetic meditation on identity, memory, and cultural resilience.

The portrait reveals both softness and strength, where transparency becomes a metaphor for vulnerability and golden undertones affirm pride and presence. In this piece, watercolour transcends fragility, becoming a medium of affirmation within the global narrative of Black Art.

As part of Afrikanizm Art’s curated collection, Black Mirror IV (I) is more than an image of reflection — it is a collector’s piece that bridges personal selfhood with collective heritage, embodying the timeless brilliance of Black Art in contemporary practice.
