Butterfly by Obilala Nwankwo is a luminous expression of Black Art, painted in acrylic on canvas with bold colour and layered texture. The butterfly emerges as a metaphor for transformation, identity, and resilience — a celebration of beauty in motion and cultural pride.

Nwankwo’s brushwork balances vibrancy and delicacy, capturing the fragility of wings alongside the strength of flight. The composition situates Butterfly within the continuum of Black Art, affirming the power of imagery to translate personal growth into collective resonance.

As part of Afrikanizm Art’s curated collection, Butterfly is a one-of-a-kind collector’s piece that unites symbolism, heritage, and creativity. A painting that redefines transformation as a central theme within contemporary Black Art.
