About The Artwork

Banana and Muffler Series

Rooted in memory and cultural symbolism, this work draws from the artist’s deep love for floral and patterned banana designs - motifs that once adorned the mufflers and bandanas worn by elder brothers in his community. Referred to as the "Big Boy Style," these accessories once appeared to be mere fashion statements. But with time, their meaning unfolded.

The muffler and bandana have revealed themselves as more than style - they are rites of passage, silent emblems of growing up and becoming. They speak of identity in transition, of strength, protection, culture, spirituality, and personal power. They are timeless, versatile, and deeply symbolic.

This piece is a tribute to that quiet evolution, from imitation to understanding, from trend to truth.
