Michelle Okpare

Michelle Okpare (b. 1996, Nigeria) is a visual artist raised between Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire. Her expressionist mixed-media work uses crepe paper, acrylic, and recycled lace to explore identity, mental health, and gender in contemporary African society. Combining memory, emotion, and imagination, her textured compositions challenge beauty standards and reflect personal and societal experiences. Okpare has exhibited internationally, featured in Vanity Fair Italia and Sunday Times South Africa, and is documented on Google Arts & Culture. She lives and works in Lagos.
