ABOUT THE ARTIST

Delman Matola

Delman is a Botswana-born, Malawian artist based in Cape Town whose self-taught practice fuses figurative painting with psychological and diasporic narratives. His work explores memory, thought, and emotional interiority, using blue — as skin, shadow, or atmosphere — to convey resilience, longing, and the unspoken self. Working primarily in acrylic, he creates immersive compositions blending symbolic realism and expressive distortion. Exhibited at Camps Bay Gallery and featured on Latitudes South Africa, his work situates personal history within contemporary African expressionism and futurist discourse.
