Black is Gold by Nadia Wamunyu is a luminous exploration of Black Art, crafted in delicate watercolour on paper. The work radiates warmth and vitality, transforming portraiture into a celebration of heritage, resilience, and the quiet brilliance of Black identity.

Wamunyu’s painterly touch balances fragility with power, using layers of translucent pigment to evoke both vulnerability and strength. The golden undertones do not merely highlight the figure — they symbolise the inherent richness and dignity embedded in African culture and the global story of Black Art.

As part of Afrikanizm Art’s curated collection, Black is Gold is more than a painting; it is an affirmation of beauty, memory, and presence. A collector’s piece that elevates watercolour into a timeless narrative of pride within the continuum of contemporary Black Art.
