DEPOSITORY SERIES
This body of work cuts across different state of affairs
laying focus on Depository - the human head, book(s) and jute rope. The books signifies knowledge and information. The head consists of the mind and brain which are determiners to decision making and direction basically.
Hitherto, the head remains a store of knowledge which puts us in direction. The level of knowledge and kind of knowledge one stores up is what determines what we do, how far we go and who we become.
Depository draws our attention and serves as a reminder to understand and know more about our history, culture and heritage. Also it points out to us to seek and be filled with knowledge and information: What stories were you told about your history and heritage? Was it a lie? Have you realised the truth?
The long-overdue conversation about how our true stories and history need to be told. We can't be blindfolded with lies. I know the truth, you know the truth, we all know the truth. No more lies about our history! Like my people say (Ika People of Delta State, Nigeria): Ogi furu eze ke w'eye eze (It is the kola that befits a king that is offered to a king).
