ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mulalene

Ventura Mulalene Zucula (born 1991, Inhambane) is a Mozambican artist whose expressive abstractions capture daily life. A graduate of ENAV and ISArC, he began exhibiting in 2009 and has shown widely across Mozambique.

Winner of the 2018 Bridge That Connects Lives award, he joined the Crescente Collection – Kulunguana, was nominated for the Mozal Art Award, and participated in Simon Njami’s Where Is South workshop and the 2020 Journeys Without Borders exhibition.

Through vibrant color and fluid brushwork, Mulalene transforms everyday scenes into reflections on belonging and Mozambican culture.
