About The Artwork

The Breaking Point emerges from a deeply intuitive and contemplative process, where creation becomes an act of presence and surrender. Drawing from her practice as a freestyle dancer, Jubas Barreto translates improvisation and movement onto the canvas, each gesture unfolding as a visual dance in dialogue with music. The work resonates like a spontaneous score of color and rhythm, evoking the sea and its elemental force, and revealing a profound connection to the luminous, aquatic energy of the Cape Verdean islands.
