Tata Bernardo

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Tata Bernardo

Israel Massala Bernardo, known as Tata Bernardo (b. 1992, Luanda), is a contemporary Angolan artist whose work weaves together themes of identity, diaspora, and ancestral memory. Raised in Saurimo and now based in São Paulo, he bridges Angolan roots with global influences through painting, performance, and mixed media.

Blending African cosmology with Afro-Brazilian traditions, his layered compositions reflect heritage, vulnerability, and healing — positioning him as a vital voice in the Afro-Atlantic art discourse.
