Adilson Vieira

Adilson Vieira (b. 1991, Luanda, Angola) is an Angolan contemporary artist known for his emotionally charged portraiture and expressive visual language. His interest in painting began at the early age of four, but societal pressure led him to pursue formal studies in computing rather than the arts. It wasn’t until 2016 that his passion was reignited, marking a pivotal return to artistic practice.

Largely self-taught, Adilson immersed himself in fine arts through books, video lessons, and the mentorship of peers. His breakthrough came in 2018 with an invitation to present his work at the Entrepreneurship Fair, followed by his debut solo exhibition Experiences of an Apprentice at the Tamar Golan Gallery in 2020.

Today, Adilson is gaining recognition in both the Angolan and Portuguese art markets for his commissioned portraits and gallery work. Through a unique blend of figurative detail and emotional depth, he transforms memory, nostalgia, and identity into visual form. Each painting invites the viewer into an intimate encounter — making his work highly sought-after by collectors of contemporary African art.
