Røberto Medina

Røberto Medina (b. 1972, Luanda) is a multidisciplinary Angolan artist whose creative practice spans music, photography, video, and visual storytelling. Also known in the music world as Beto Medina, his work is a rhythmic fusion of soul, jazz, funk, and global influences, shaped by his time in Portugal and the UK before returning to Luanda in 2021.

From a young age, Medina has been driven by a deep curiosity for sound and image. As a musician, composer, and producer, his sonic identity is rooted in Afro-diasporic rhythm and groove. His transition into photography and video direction later added a powerful visual layer to his exploration of culture, identity, and emotion.

Now based once again in his native Angola, Røberto's work reflects a hybrid sensibility — a dialogue between continents, disciplines, and personal histories. Whether behind the lens or on stage, his creations embody the spirit of movement and reconnection.

Medina represents a generation of African artists redefining creativity across borders, fusing the local with the global, and tradition with experimentation.
