Osoba George

Osoba Omoayo George (b. 1998, Nigeria) is a contemporary visual artist whose work celebrates the richness of Black skin, identity, and elegance. Based in Lagos, George began his artistic journey at age 15 through graffiti and street art, a medium that ignited his passion for visual expression. His early experiments with customising T-shirts, sneakers, and caps laid the foundation for a bold and distinctive creative voice.

He honed his skills at Yaba College of Technology, where he majored in painting, refining his understanding of colour, composition, and visual storytelling. George’s work is rooted in figurativism and explores the dramatic interplay between natural forms and stylised expression, utilising media such as oil, acrylic, and polymer.

Known for his dynamic textures, rich palettes, and strong lines, George’s paintings highlight the strength, dignity, and beauty of Black bodies and Black culture. At the core of his practice is a mission to inspire self-confidence, celebrate African elegance, and counter stereotypes through empowering visual narratives.

Osoba’s work has been exhibited across galleries in Nigeria, where it resonates with audiences for its emotional clarity and bold aesthetic. Each piece he creates is an invitation to embrace identity and redefine beauty on African terms.
