Samson Adetunji

Nigeria

"Samson’s approach is intimate and intuitive; every brushstroke a quiet rebellion against the ordinary, every detail a whispered invitation to see the world anew. He paints not just to portray, but to understand — to uncover hidden truths and to bring beauty where it is most needed.

With a soul attuned to the poetry of life, Samson continues to carve his path in the art world, guided by the belief that through art, we can feel more deeply, love more openly, and connect more truly.

Samson Adetunji

Samson Adetunji (b. 2001, Osun State, Nigeria) is a rising contemporary artist whose figurative paintings offer a poignant exploration of empathy, memory, and human connection. A graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University ACE Ondo, where he earned his degree in Fine and Applied Arts, Adetunji brings together acrylic, oil, and charcoal in compositions that radiate emotional depth and symbolic resonance.

His practice is marked by the presence of delicately rendered human figures, often in dialogue with gentle animals, evoking a sense of compassion, vulnerability, and inner strength. These quiet yet powerful scenes create intimate spaces where the viewer is invited to pause, feel, and reflect.

Deeply influenced by the emotional landscapes of everyday life, Samson’s work transcends literal representation, becoming a visual language of care and introspection. His nuanced use of line and colour reflects his commitment to storytelling — one rooted in African identity, personal truth, and the universal need to be seen and understood.

As a young voice in Nigeria’s vibrant contemporary art scene, Samson Adetunji is gaining recognition for his poetic approach to figuration and his ability to transform silence into powerful visual narratives. His work continues to resonate with collectors and audiences drawn to art that honours the softness and complexity of being.
