Joël Bigaignon

Joël Bigaignon (b. 1968, Mauritius) is a Copenhagen-based artist whose work reflects his African, Indian, and European heritage. Using paper and mixed media rooted in Mauritian traditions, he creates layered compositions exploring ritual, memory, race, and postcolonial identity. Balancing precision and spontaneity, his practice evokes landscapes of destruction and renewal shaped by early life experiences. Bigaignon has exhibited internationally, including at Beers London and Kunsthal Charlottenborg.
