Azeez Salami

Hailing from the vibrant city of Lagos, Azeez Salami is a Nigerian visual artist whose work serves as a vivid reflection of the diverse and dynamic temperaments of his surroundings. His artistic journey has allowed him to explore a myriad of mediums, resulting in a body of work that encapsulates the essence of life itself.

Salami's pursuit of artistic excellence led him to Yaba College of Technology, where he earned a National Diploma, providing him with a strong foundation in the visual arts. Alongside his formal education, he had the privilege of being mentored by the seasoned professional painting artist, Damilola Opedun, whose guidance further enriched his artistic sensibilities.

Currently, Azeez Salami is on a quest for knowledge and artistic growth as a visual arts student at the University of Lagos, Akoka. This educational endeavor provides him with the opportunity to deepen his understanding of art's profound impact on society and its role in shaping cultural narratives.

Salami's works, often infused with the spirit of his immediate environment, showcase his versatility and willingness to experiment with various artistic mediums. This willingness to explore and innovate allows him to breathe life into his creations, making them a testament to the dynamic interplay between art and life.

Thó Simões Transforms Pumangol Drums into Artworks

As part of Brands with Art, Pumangol partnered with acclaimed Angolan street artist Thó Simões to create a unique fusion of industrial design and artistic expression. Simões painted five metal drums, drawing inspiration from Pumangol’s slogan Criar Boa Energia (Creating Good Energy). Using plants to symbolize pure energy and human figures to highlight his artistic signature, the project connects sustainability with the vibrancy of Angolan culture. New Hub for Creativity in Maputo: A Vision for Mozambique’s Cultural Future

A new Art Center and Artist Residency is taking shape in Maputo’s Dona Alice neighborhood.
