Josué Muxito

Josué Muxito (b. 1997, Luanda, Angola) is a contemporary visual artist whose practice bridges the poetic tension between tradition and contemporaneity. Living and working in Luanda, Muxito explores a range of media — including painting, printmaking, ceramics, and sculpture — crafting a visual language rooted in introspection, material research, and cultural reflection.

A graduate of the Polytechnic Institute of Arts 9011 – Cearte, where he specialised in Painting (2018), Muxito began his artistic journey in 2020, quickly establishing himself as a promising voice in Angola’s emerging art scene. Currently pursuing a degree in Visual and Plastic Arts at FAARTES (Faculty of Arts), he is also a dedicated educator, sharing his passion for artistic expression with the next generation.

Muxito’s work is marked by an intimate, almost meditative approach to form and gesture. His creative process draws upon the heritage of Angolan visual culture, while engaging with contemporary techniques and conceptual frameworks. Each piece becomes a space of dialogue between memory and modernity, structure and fluidity, silence and rhythm.

Through his evolving practice, Josué Muxito contributes to the rich narrative of contemporary African art, offering works that are both visually grounded and deeply reflective.
