Siphamandla Ex

Siphamandla Ex, a South African artist hailing from Johannesburg, was born on July 12th at Nquthu hospital and raised by his grandmother in Bilanyoni village, KwaZulu-Natal. While Ex is primarily known as a music producer/composer and a basketball player, his passion for drawing emerged at a young age, despite never receiving formal education in visual art.

Throughout his career, Ex has collaborated with numerous artists and participated in group exhibitions alongside well-established names in the arts scene. His artistic focus revolves around gaining a deeper understanding of human conditions in villages and townships, with a particular emphasis on investigating issues of violence and abuse through portraiture.

Presently, Ex operates from his studio at the Asisebenze art atelier in Johannesburg CBD. His ultimate aspiration is to establish a non-profit organization aimed at keeping children off the streets by providing them with shelter, nutrition, and recreational programs. Through this initiative, Ex hopes to offer children equal opportunities in life and empower them to pursue their dreams. With a strong commitment to social impact through art, Siphamandla Ex remains dedicated to his mission—so don't wake him up, just ride along on his journey of making a difference.
