About The Artwork

"Mana Mingura, famous for her "sentadas" (social gatherings centred around food), has her cooker blocked. She quickly jumps into the arena and catches a kandongueiro (local taxi) to the wys, specialists (a place known for having
repair specialists) of the mambo (the thing)." This work by Paulo Amaral is an urban portrait that captures the rhythm of life in Luanda with precision and humour, using a rich language that punctuates the narrative with local colour and authenticity. It is a window into the culture, challenges and creativity of Angolans in solving everyday problems.
