MEET
Mulalene
Ventura Mulalene Zucula (Mulalene), born in Inhambane in 1991, began his artistic career in 2009 with a group exhibition at Casa da Cultura in Inhambane. Since then, he has participated in numerous collective exhibitions across Mozambique. He holds a degree in Textiles and Pedagogical Training from ENAV and a Bachelor’s in Visual Arts from ISArC.
In 2018, he won the “Bridge That Connects Lives” painting award from the Mozambican-German Cultural Center (CCMA). The following year, he joined the “Crescente Collection – Kulunguana” and was nominated for the Mozal Art Award in Visual Arts. Mulalene also took part in Simon Njami’s “Where Is South” workshop and the exhibition “Journeys Without Borders” at Arte de Gema Gallery in 2020.
