The EAAE Gallery is a project of the Z-N-S Foundation, developed from ongoing research in East Africa and aligned with the Foundation’s commitment to culture, art, and knowledge exchange. The gallery serves as a platform for contemporary artistic practices that reflect the social, cultural, and environmental realities of the region.

Focusing on Kenya, the EAAE Gallery presents artists whose work engages with the country’s dynamic transition between tradition and modernity. Urban life, technological change, and inherited cultural forms intersect across diverse practices — from the vibrant visual language of matatu culture, to speculative portraiture shaped by Afrofuturist thought, and atmospheric interpretations of everyday city life.

At the core of the gallery’s programme is an interest in how contemporary Kenyan identity is continuously reimagined. Particular attention is given to artists who approach tradition with critical sensitivity, including women whose practices address empowerment, visibility, and social transformation. Through this curatorial lens, the EAAE Gallery introduces Kenya not as a singular narrative, but as a living, evolving constellation of voices shaping the present and envisioning the future.
